
What is the International Dog & Cat Grooming Competition?
It is an international competition organized by Groom Academy, held for the first time in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It aims to bring together top professionals and enthusiasts in the field of grooming.

Contributing to the development and enhancement of grooming skills through a professional competition that fosters learning and growth.

Raising awareness about the pet grooming profession and promoting a culture of health and care for pets.

Strengthening international relations between professional groomers and breeders.

You must also arrive on time for the veterinary examination and vaccination certificate check.
Awards & Certifications

All participants will receive a Certificate of Participation from Groom Academy, acknowledged by the Russian Association of Grooming.

Winners will receive a Diploma from Groom Academy, acknowledged by the Russian Association of Grooming, along with special awards.

All participants will receive a variety of pet-related gifts from the competition sponsors.
Eligibility
-
Beginners: Up to 2 years of professional experience.
-
Open: More than 2 years of professional experience.
-
Champions: Previously won in Open Class at grooming competitions.
Evaluation & Judging
(Evaluation is based on a point system)

Each judge awards: 10 points (1st place), 8 points (2nd), 6 points (3rd).

The head judge compiles the final results based on the combined scores.
-
In case of a tie, the panel decides the winner collectively.

3 winners per category and class.
-
BIS (Best in Show) is selected among category winners.
-
Additional awards: Best in Show Beginner, Best in Show Cat, Best Team, Best School.

Vaccination Rules
An updated vaccination certificate for the participating cat or dog must be presented upon arrival at the exhibition, in accordance with the requirements of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Terms and Conditions

The registration fee is 200 Saudi Riyals, excluding VAT.

Any groomer may participate in the competition.

The registration deadline is November 14, 2025, or until all spots are filled.

Participants must bring the required tools, cosmetics, and equipment.

Groomers may use any tools and cosmetics suitable for pets or humans, such as sprays, chalks, powders, and oils.

The choice of haircut, style, and technique is determined by the participant, provided it suits the coat type and breed standards. All cutting and styling must be done during the competition.

Cats must be brought in individual carriers.
-
Dogs and cats must be clean, in good health, well-groomed, calm, vaccinated, flea-free, and have clean ears.
-
Dogs and cats must not be sick or pregnant. Any wounds or skin conditions must be disclosed at inspection.

The coat must be long enough to allow styling changes. Nails must be trimmed, paw pads and interdigital hair clipped (except the top of poodle paws).
-
Sanitary clipping of the belly and groin areas is allowed, as well as pre-shaving the face and feet of poodles before the competition.
-
Whiskers (vibrissae) on cats must not be trimmed.
-
The use of natural calming products for cats, such as pheromones (e.g., Feliway), is allowed. Use of sedative drugs is strictly prohibited.

Breaks are allowed, but competition time continues. Leaving the pet unattended is strictly prohibited.
-
Assistance is allowed only for restraining cats, not for grooming. Any violation may result in point deduction or disqualification.
-
After grooming, the table may be covered for display purposes, and the area must be cleaned before judging begins.
-
Receiving any assistance (verbal or otherwise) from others during the competition is strictly prohibited.
-
Participants must follow the instructions of judges and organizers, act ethically and respectfully, and must not interfere with the performance of other participants.

Any cruel or unsafe treatment of the animal will result in disqualification. Skin injuries will be considered a violation.

Safety rules related to the use of electrical and cutting tools must be followed.
-
The organizer will provide trash bags and disinfectants.
-
The participant is responsible for their dog, cat, and personal belongings throughout the exhibition period. The organizers will not be held responsible for them.

Non-participants are not allowed to enter the Dog & Cat Grooming Competition area.

Participation is open to individuals aged 18 years and above.
-
Participation fees can be refunded if the cancellation occurs 30 days before the competition date, with a 30 Saudi Riyal administrative fee deducted.

By participating, you agree to the photos, videos, and audio recordings taken of you and your cat/dog, and their use in printed and electronic media, including social media platforms.
